Privacy Policy
Lynch Meyer (we, us, our) respects the privacy of your personal information and data in our care. We are committed to maintaining the security of all personal information provided to us in accordance with our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act), including those contained in the Australian Privacy Principles (APP). This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, manage and disclose personal information.
By providing us with your personal information, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. You may withdraw your consent at any time in writing, but if you do, we may be unable to assist you.
1. What information is collected and why
Lynch Meyer collects personal information for business purposes.
Business purposes may include providing legal services, processing payments, verifying your identity, communicating with you, dealing with enquiries from you or working with our service providers.
Lynch Meyer will not share, trade or sell personal information for marketing purposes. From time to time, we may send you legal updates or other marketing communications to you. Personal information is any information or opinions relating to an individual that can be used to identify that individual whether that information or opinion is true or not and whether the information or opinion is recorded in material form or not. - payment details, credit card details, bank account details, financial information and credit information;

- information relating to your enquiries.
2. Ways we collect your information
General
Where possible, we collect personal information directly from you during the course of our business relationship. This may include via written forms (including financial questionnaire forms), emails, letters, telephone calls, or other messaging technology.
We may also collect personal information from other sources. This may include via the internet, including websites and social media, publicly available sources of information, or from other persons or organisations.
Cookies
Lynch Meyer’s websites use ‘cookies’. A cookie is a piece of data that is stored on a computer or device which allows us to enhance your online experience with us.
When one of our websites is visited, records of visits are logged for statistical, maintenance and improvement purposes. The service or internet provider address is collected and cannot be traced to an individual user. We do not identify the browsing history of our website users and visitors. The only exception to this is where a law enforcement agency lawfully requires us to, or we are required to do so under local law.

Website analytics
Our websites use Google Analytics which captures data about the traffic to our websites. This data does not identify individual users, and we use this data to help us understand how our websites are used.
3. How information is stored, managed and protected
Personal information is either stored in facilities that Lynch Meyer owns and manages or those that are owned and operated by our service providers.
Lynch Meyer takes reasonable steps to maintain the security of and protect all personal information in our care. This includes restricting electronic and physical access to personal information, having in place information back up and standby systems to deal with major business interruptions, maintaining technology security products, requiring any third party providers to have acceptable security measures to keep information secure, including confidentiality arrangements, and destroying or de-identifying personal information pursuant to the appropriate laws.
4. Disclosing personal information
Subject to our professional obligations to our client, Lynch Meyer may disclose personal information:
- for the purposes for which it was collected (outlined in paragraph 1);
- to third party advisors as part of the work they perform for or on behalf of Lynch Meyer;
- to credit reporting bodies, for example if you fail to meet your payment obligations to us;
- if you agree to the disclosure; and
- if required or permitted by law.
Lynch Meyer only discloses personal information overseas if it becomes necessary as part of the services we provide to you or in the course of us fulfilling the purpose for which we collected your personal information. By providing us with your personal information, you consent to the disclosure of your personal information overseas and acknowledge that we are not required to ensure that the overseas recipients treat your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act and the APPs.
5. Access and correction
Under certain circumstances, by law you have the right to:
- request access to your personal information;
- request we correct incomplete or inaccurate personal information;
- request your personal information be deleted or access to it be restricted;
- request transfer of your personal information to you or a party nominated by you; and
- object to use of your personal information.

We may refuse access to your information if giving access would be unlawful, refusing access is required/authorised by law, or if giving access would prejudice any enforcement related activities. We will notify you in writing if we refuse access to your personal information. Such notice will include our reasons for the refusal, except if we are not required by law or it would be unreasonable for us to do so, and how you can complain about our refusal.
If we become aware that any personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading, we will take reasonable steps to correct that information. We will provide you with written notice of any such correction as soon as possible. If you believe any of your personal information that we hold should be corrected, please contact our Privacy Officer using the contact details in paragraph 9. We are not obliged to amend any personal information that we hold about you if we do not agree with the correction you have requested. If we refuse to correct such information, we will give written notice of refusal, except if we are not required by law or it would be unreasonable for us to do so, and how you can complain about our refusal.
6. Complaints process
If you wish to make a complaint about how Lynch Meyer handles your personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer using the contact details set out in paragraph 9 setting out your complaint in writing. Please ensure your correspondence clearly sets out the nature of your complaint.
We will consider your complaint and provide our response in writing within a reasonable timeframe. If we are unable to resolve your complaint, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at the details in paragraph 9.
7. Changes to privacy policy
Our Privacy Policy may be updated or changed from time to time. Any updates or changes will be published on our website, https://lynchmeyer.com.au.
