About the role
We are seeking a Commercial Litigation Lawyer to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive support to senior practitioners while being mentored across diverse practice areas by Partners who are recognised market leaders in their field.
The matters which the successful candidate will work on will span disputes concerning each of the above industries, with this role being primarily based within Lynch Meyer’s Construction, Infrastructure and Engineering disputes team, a team consistently recognised as the leader of its field in South Australia. The team is consistently ranked as “First Tier” in Doyle’s Guide, including in the most recent published rankings for 2023. The team are regularly engaged to act for national commercial building clients, leading residential builders, engineering firms and governments.
Due to an increase in workflow, the firm is hiring an exceptional candidate from the graduate level (0 years PAE) through to Associate level (4 years PAE).
About you
The successful candidate will be required to work on a variety of commercial litigation matters with a particular focus on servicing the firm’s Construction, Infrastructure and Engineering clients. Specific tasks will vary according to the nature of each matter being conducted, however, the successful candidate can expect to undertake tasks including:
- Assisting on a wide range of commercial litigation matters throughout their litigation life cycle, from the pre-action stage through to and including trial/judgment.
- Preparation of all Court documents including pleadings and affidavits.
- Instructing independent counsel, including Senior Counsel.
- Taking instructions from and advising the firm’s clients.
- Conducting legal research.
- Due diligence.
- Discovery and document management.
Essential skills and experience
- Admitted to practice in South Australia.
- Excellent research skills and clarity of thought and expression.
- Prior experience in private legal practice, particularly in respect of construction disputes, will be looked upon favourably.
