Verification of Identity Documents
The Lands Titles Office has introduced a new policy which requires us to complete a Verification of Identity face to face before the completion of the Land Transfer documents.
(in accordance with the Registrar General’s Verification of Identity Policy)
Category 1
Required documents:
- Current Australian Passport or Foreign Passport with Australian resident visa label AND
- Current Australian driver’s licence or form of photographic Proof of Age Card
Also required if name changed:
- Change of name or marriage certificate
Category 2
- Current Australian Passport or Foreign Passport with Australian resident visa label AND
- Full Birth, Citizenship or Descent Certificate AND
- Current Medicare, Centrelink or Veterans’ Affairs Card
Also required if name changed:
- Change of name or marriage certificate
Category 3
- Current Australian driver’s licence or form of photographic Proof of Age Card AND
- Full Birth, Citizenship or Descent Certificate AND
- Current Medicare, Centrelink or Veterans’ Affairs Card
Also required if name changed:
- Change of name or marriage certificate
Important - Please Note:
- ORIGINAL AND CURRENT DOCUMENTS WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED
- Birth / Marriage / Change of Name certificates are required to be issued by Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages. Extracts, originals or copies are not deemed sufficient evidence
- Only the above documents are acceptable. Other forms of identification such as credit cards, utility accounts etc are not acceptable under the Policy
- All documents must be from the same category
- Category 2 Documents can only be used if the person undertaking the face-to-face verification is satisfied that all Category 1 documents are not available. If the person undertaking the face-to-face verification is satisfied that not all documents from Category 1 and Category 2 are available, only then can documents from Category 3 be used
