James has 35 plus years of experience practicing in all aspects of commercial disputes, insolvency and recoveries. He was Recommended in Doyle’s Guide as a Leading Insolvency & Restructuring Lawyer in South Australia for 2022, 2021, 2020, and earlier.
James regularly appears as Counsel in company liquidation, bankruptcy and commercial litigation. He advises insolvency practitioners and creditors on a wide range of insolvency and preference-related issues. James acts for debt collection agencies and oversees all recovery actions across Australia for those clients. He is recognised as a specialist commercial and recovery litigator. He has represented banks and financial institutions in secured and unsecured recovery actions.
In particular, James has wide experience working with schools and educational institutions. His experience includes providing advice in relation to fee collection and the negotiation of payment arrangements, as well as providing advice on enrolment documentation, terms and processes.
James is a Past National President of the Australian Institute of Credit Management (AICM). He regularly presents seminars for the Institute and other industry and insolvency groups. James represented the AICM on the ASIC Insolvency Reform Advisory Panel. He has lectured in commercial law at the Adelaide Institute of TAFE and has been invited by the Law Society of South Australia to speak as part of their specialist education programme.
